Resources
At Fortitude Skincare, we understand that the path to recovery is not traveled alone. That's why we've compiled a comprehensive list of resources to aid anyone who may be struggling with domestic violence or trauma.
Our commitment extends beyond our products, we strive to be a source of support, guidance, and empowerment for survivors, helping them find the strength to write their own stories of triumph.
ACC Counselling
ACC can help pay for counselling and therapy sessions if you need support after a physical injury or after experiencing sexual abuse. If you would like to pursue this option, there are two things we can do to get to the next step:
-
Go to your doctor and tell them you experience sexual/ physical abuse and would like help from ACC
-
Email a list of specific therapists from the approved ACC list and ask for an appointment after you see someone you think you like the sound of
Option 2 can take a long time depending on the high demands on therapists in particular regions.
Option 1 will guarantee you get into the ACC system, and then you don’t have to do anything. You will get a phone call from ACC within 1 week and they will assign you a recovery partner who you will have for the entirety of your claim. They will ask if you want them to find any available psychologists for you and if you say yes, they’ll do all the work. Then they will contact you once they have found someone and you can say yes or no and wait for the next suggestion.
Once you have found a psychologist that you like, you will meet with them and have an initial “get to know you“ appointment to see if you feel comfortable with them. This is completely free of charge.
Then if you are, they will start the assessment phase with you. This entire assessment stage is free of charge.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW
-
You don’t have to give your doctor any details if you don’t want too, just saying you have been a victim of physical and sexual abuse, and the rough dates of the events are enough.
-
Everything, apart from potentially that first doctors’ appointment, is free. You will not be charged even in the very unlikely event that the psychologist doesn’t think you need long term therapy.
